Upon Admisstion

• Attend new student orientation
  
• Register for prerequisite classes at http://my.sjsu.edu
  
• Add courses in classroom if you miss your enrollment appointments

Prerequisites / Core Requirements

• Complete eight prerequisites / core requirement courses
  
• Select a faculty to be your advisor
  
• Apply for clearance
  
• Take CBEST exam prior to starting your internship

Advanced Courses

• Take required advanced courses
  
• Complete 9 unites internship at two school levels for total of 600 hours

Exit Exam

• Sign up the comprehensive exam at the department office
  
• Take a comprehensive exam on applying guidance and counseling theories to practice
  
• Obtain advisor’s approval for your PPS worksheet
  
• Pass CBEST

Obtain Credential

• Complete credential application package at the College Credential Office (SH108)
  
• Order your official transcripts
  
• Attend Department Graduation Reception and University Commencement in May
