SJSU and the College of Science host The Edward Oates Symposium: Security in the Cyber Age
San José State University convened - September 14, 2012 - leading cyber security experts to highlight the need for a strategic, interdisciplinary approach to workforce development and infrastructure through the University’s newly established Silicon Valley Cyber Security & Big Data Initiative.
The Edward Oates Symposium's theme this year was entitled; Security in the Cyber Age. It was of particular interest to representatives of private industry, government entities, health organizations and academia. Many in the greater field of information management and computer science see this as the next race to the moon.
I am pleased to lend my name, expertise and vision to San José State for this very successful first symposium on cyber security. Now retired after 20 years at Oracle, this symposium is the first step to grow a program of great importance here within the Silicon Valley.
