Technical Sergeant Noah Z. Smith is the NCOIC, Personnel, AFROTC/DET 045. He was assigned this position in August 2009. Sergeant Smith is responsible for managing a variety of administrative actions directly related to the Professional Officer Course (POC) cadets, in addition to financial management, security clearances, flight physicals, additional duties, and assists with administrative duties.
Sergeant Smith enlisted in the Air Force on 27 August 1997 and began Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, on 28 August 1997. He transferred to his first duty station at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, in December 1994. After seven years, Sergeant Smith had an opportunity to travel overseas to serve a one year tour at Kunsan AB, Republic of Korea. In August 2005, Sergeant Smith returned to the United States to Hurlburt Field, Florida where he worked at the 19 Special Operations Squadron supporting the instructors and students training on the AC130 H/U model aircraft. During this assignment Sergeant Smith served a 3 month tour at Balad Air Base, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sergeant Smith and his wife Diah have three children, Sarah, Jean and Ethan.
