Arnold Air Society is a professional, honorary, service organization made up approximately 3,000 cadets each academic year.  Advocating the support of aerospace power, it is the only extracurricular activity available to Air Force cadets.  Arnold Air Society’s motto is "The warrior who cultivates his mind, polishes his arms.”  The Staffelbach Squadron at San Jose State exemplifies this attitude by maintaining an excellent leadership-training program that gives members the tools for success in the Air Force.

The Staffelbach Squadron’s training program puts forth high standards required in all cadets admitted to membership.  Each year, enthusiastic cadets enter the program hoping to be accepted into Arnold Air Society.  The program consists of drill and ceremony training, knowledge of the Air Force and Arnold Air Society, and intense physical training.  The final component of training is a candidate weekend, a true test of the teamwork taught throughout the training process.  Candidate weekend takes place at a secret location which pushes candidates to their mental and physical limits.  After cadets are admitted into Arnold Air Society, they continue to practice the leadership skills learned during training; this knowledge makes our members some of the sharpest cadets in the detachment.

As a service organization, Staffelbach Squadron completes many focused projects throughout the year which serves to enhance the community.  On average, Arnold Air Society contributes more than 300 volunteer man-hours per quarter, 100 man-hours per month, and 25 man-hours per week.  All together Staffelbach Squadron has contributed over 1,250 man-hours to the community this past year.  Arnold Air Society is an excellent organization and recommended for all cadets.
