Neotropical Shrew

My research interests have focused on the biogeography, ecology, and evolutionary relationships of mammals.  I have been especially interested in the study of neotropical animals for the past 25 years.  I have published over 35 papers, 18 concentrating on tropical mammals.  I have spent the past six years in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, and Brazil exploring, studying, making contacts, and working with local scientists.  I am a member of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History's team to study mammalian biogeography in Central America.  I have recently initiated a project in collaboration with ecologists and wildlife biologists of the Modoc National Forest to study the small mammals and their distribution patterns in the Warner Mountains of northeastern California.
