General Information
The minor in Mexican American studies is a unique interdisciplinary
program of study that supplements any undergraduate major
by providing a well-rounded introduction to the Chicano/Latino
community, including its history, culture and social, political,
and economic context. The coursework supports major programs
in economics, business, politics, culture, education, personal
management, marketing, psychology/ counseling, community development,
public administration, and the fine arts.
A minor in Mexican American Studies requires that you complete
18 units from the following courses:
MAS 10A* or B*, MAS 40*, MAS 74*, MAS 105, MAS 115, MAS 120,
MAS 125, MAS 127, MAS 130, MAS 135, MAS 144, MAS 150, MAS
160, MAS 170, MAS 175, MAS 180, MAS 194, MAS 195, or courses
approved from another institution by the undergraduate minor
advisor.
If you are a transfer student or have not taken any of the
lower division courses you may satisfy the minor requirements
by completing your 18 units with upper division courses.
* Only one three unit lower division course may be applied
to the minor
