Supporting Anthropology

Our department is committed to building anthropology at San Jose State to help people in our region and beyond, and to provide the best possible education for our students. San Jose State is a state-assisted university, not a state-supported one, and we need your help to reach our goals.

Financial support allows us to offer important services that otherwise are beyond our means. This support is even more important now that we have a Graduate Program in Applied Anthropology. Gifts allow us to:

* build a library collection that supports our courses;

* equip our archaeology and physical anthropology laboratories with needed equipment;

* pay for access to databases and data sets for research; and

* support student and faculty research and service projects, and disseminate our work to wider audiences.

The Jack Pierce Award is one modest way we support students and we hope to be able to offer additional support in the future.

Gifts to the department can be unrestricted or directed toward particular uses and are carefully administered. Please contact Chuck Darrah, the department chair, to find out how you can best support Anthropology at San Jose State University. You can also visit the University Development and Alumni Secure website. You can contact us about making sure that your support goes directly to the Department of Anthropology.
