The Jack Pierce Memorial Scholarship

The Jack Pierce Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually by the Department of Anthropology to an outstanding undergraduate student. The amount of the award is $250.


Eligibility:

You are eligible to apply if:
1. You are an undergraduate student majoring in (1) anthropology or (2) behavioral science with a double major in anthropology;
2. You have completed a minimum of 9 units of upper division anthropology coursework at San Jose State University; and
3. You will be registered at the university in the Spring 2008 semester.


Application Procedure:
You must submit the following material to apply:
1. A letter stating your interest in applying.
2. A current resume.
3. Unofficial transcripts of all your coursework taken at San Jose State University. [available www.mysjsu.edu]
4. A sample of the best of your work in anthropology. This may consist of a paper prepared for a course or a conference, and it may be revised extensively. Applicants are encouraged to seek advice and assistance from faculty members in choosing the paper to submit.

Application Deadline:
All materials must be submitted to the
department office
(Clark Hall 469) by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1st, 2008.
The winner of the scholarship will be announced on Wednesday, April 16th, 2008 and the presentation of the certificate that accompanies the award will be made at the department's Spring 2008 graduation celebration.
