Tours of the Center for the public
The Center is open to the public without charge. Visitors are welcome to tour the Center using a printed guide of the collection or ask the Curator for a tour. Both the Director and Curator are available for special lectures and tours for groups.
Reference assistance
The Center's Curator is available during the Center's open hours for reference assistance for those who visit the Center or through e-mail, fax, telephone, or mail requests.
Online catalog
Much of the Center's collection is cataloged in the Beethoven Bibliography Database, which is freely available online.
Photocopying of materials listed in the Beethoven Bibliography Database
Although none of the Center's materials may be checked out of the library, the Center does provide photocopy service of many materials. Click here for guidelines on photocopy requests and fees.
Prints and digital files of art works and rare materials
Digital images or prints of the Center's art collections (engravings, lithographs, sculpture, etc.), manuscripts, and rare editions may be requested by contacting the Curator. Art materials are currently cataloged in a local database that is not yet available online. Fees cover time and materials:
Black and white prints: $10 each
Color prints: $15 each
Scans (300 dpi) on CD-ROM: $15 each
Postage is additional. An invoice including postage charges will be sent with the copies/prints. These images will be provided for research purposes only. Additional fees are required for use of these images in publication (see "permissions" below).
Reproduction of the Center's materials for publications
For permission to reproduce the Center's materials for publication in books, films or television programs, or electronic media, see the guide to permissions and fees. For more information contact the Curator. Fees are based on whether the enterprise is for profit or non-profit.
Loan of materials for exhibits
The Center will supply exhibit materials for conferences and festivals throughout the United States. Materials and exhibit texts are loaned for periods of a few days to several weeks for a charge of $500 (negotiable) plus expenses for shipping, insurance, security, travel (if the Director or Curator is participating in the event), and graphic design expenses if necessary. To discuss an exhibit, please contact the Curator.
