Degree Programs & Curricula

The Department of Economics offers a broad range of degrees from which students can choose. Our flexible programs allow you to tailor a course of study to fits your needs. Please work with your academic advisor to choose the degree that best suits your academic goals. Our Course Structure lists all classes by subject category. The Department also offers introductory Economics classes online. Check the current semester class schedule to determine which Economics courses are availble.
A Minor in Economics is available to SJSU students pursuing another major.

Admission to the Economics Degree Programs

Students must be admitted per San Jose State's requirements as an incoming Freshman, a Transfer Student, or a Graduate Degree Candidate.

GE Breadth & Advanced GE Requirement

Many credits earned at another University or Community College will count both towards SJSU's General Education Breadth requirements and for the B.A and B.S. Economics degrees. SJSU also requires that students complete Advanced GE courses in residence. These include a 100W writing class. Economics Majors should take ECON 100W when it is offered, or may take any other 100W class.
