| Description: |
The principal objective of this course is for you to be able to design and construct a geographic information system to solve problems in environmental management, business, or earth science research. You will gain an understanding the technical elements of a GIS project and become familiar with GIS application issues. We will also be addressing the construction of the databases and applications software required to solve a variety of application problems.
The course will involve a combination of lectures, discussions, and laboratory exercises. You should read the assigned readings prior to the week in which they are discussed. The lectures/discussions will expand on the materials in the text. Discussions will involve all members of the class. However, you will not be evaluated on participation in general discussions.
