EDIT 122 - Microcomputers for Educators

EDIT 122 is designed to meet the California Teaching Commission standards for candidates for a preliminary teaching credential - Level I competencies. EDIT 122 should be taken prior to entering a single subjects or multiple subjects credential program. Specifically, upon completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate a personal knowledge of these competencies:

  • Each candidate demonstrates knowledge of current basic computer hardware and software terminology.
  • Each candidate demonstrates competency in the operation and care of computer-related hardware.
  • Each candidate implements basic troubleshooting techniques for computer systems and related peripheral devices before accessing the appropriate avenue of technical support.
  • Each candidate demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the legal and ethical issues concerned with the use of computer-based technology.
  • Each candidate demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the appropriate use of computer-based technology in teaching and learning.
  • Each candidate uses computers to communicate through printed media.
  • Each candidate interacts with others using e-mail.
  • Each candidate is familiar with a variety of computer-based collaborative tools.
  • Each candidate demonstrates competence in the use of electronic research tools.
  • Each candidate demonstrates knowledge of copyright issues.
  • Each candidate demonstrates knowledge of privacy, security, and safety issues.
Challenging the Course

Students may "challenge" EDIT 122 by taking the College of Education Technology Test.
