Worksheet #5.b- Using Evaluation Software

Directions: Apply what you have learned by using software to track student progress.

Constraints: You are to construct an electronic gradebook that computes student grades.

Step 1. Begin by downloading an excel spreasheet contain ing student names and grades for assignments.

Step 2. Sort the student names alphabetically

Step 3. Compute the student's weighted grade and put it in the "AVG (average)" column. To do this, generate a formula and put it in the average column. This is a weighted "average" the midterm, final exam, and paper each count 5 times more than the quizzes.

Step 4. Assign a grade to each student. If a student's average is between 90 and 100, assign them the grade of A. 80 to 89 = B, 70 to 79 = C, 60 to 69 = D and 0 to 59 = F

Step 5. Check to see if you are correct. Click here to see a portion of the grade sheet containing the "correct" values for the final grade sheet.
