The IT Professional Certificate allows you to set the class schedule and academic goals.

The Professional IT Certificate is a series of five on-line courses designed to meet the educational needs of busy professionals. Courses may be taken in an anywhere, anytime format to meet your active schedule. Upon completion of all five courses, students will be issued a Professional IT Certificate by the San José State University Instructional Technology Program. The certificate is designed to meet the needs of individuals considering instructional technology careers, teachers seeking to upgrade their technology knowledge base, and those considering applying for graduate work in the SJSU Instructional Technology Program.

Courses in the Professional IT Certificate are regular offerings from the Instructional Technology Program at San José State University. The courses have been reformatted as web-based learning experiences. Each courses features:

Courseware for use in computer-assisted instruction in education; application of appropriate evaluation criteria to selection of suitable materials. Advanced studies in history, current development and potential futures of information systems in education. Emphasis on new role of media specialist as coordinator of instructional and research information services. Courses from the Professional IT Certificate may be transferred into a Master's Program at San José State University

In most cases, students enrolling in the Instructional Technology Program at San José State University may use three courses from the Professional IT Certificate as part of their course of studies. Students may count the EDIT 186 course as a regular prerequisite and two other courses as part of their program of studies.
.....Additionally, students in other graduate majors may use two courses from the on-line Professional IT Certificate as part of their graduate coursework with their advisor's consent.
