Lecturer, Industrial Design
Jim Ammon is a California registered mechanical engineer with over 25 years of product design, industrial design and program management experience. Jim is currently the principal of Jammon Design, which has provided mechanical, industrial, and graphics design for Accuray’s Cyberknife radio-surgery system, Sun Microsystems’ SunBlade products, and RGB Networks' Via video servers. He frequently collaborates with a thermal solutions provider, and together, they have designed several dozen unique cooling solutions for high density, heat intensive products.
Prior to Jammon Design, Jim designed products for Hewlett Packard, Nortel Networks,
Sun Microsystems and Silicon Graphics. At Sun, he was a manager for the highly successful
SPARC Storage Array, and at SGI, a project leader for the Origin2000 supercomputer.
Jim previously taught materials and manufacturing courses at California College of the Arts. His work has been featured in several magazines and he holds several design and utility patents.
