Katia Sobolski is a researcher and designer. She is interested in understanding how the simultaneous use of analog and computational systems can help designers synchronize creative ideas with complex project parameters at the conceptual level. She is currently an Associate Research Specialist with the BIOMS group at the UC Berkeley Center for Environmental Design Research, where she studies multiscale, multifunctional next-generation façade material systems and their visualization.
Katia holds a B.A. from Columbia University and an M.Arch from UC Berkeley, where she received the Gerson Memorial Prize for Overall Design Excellence in 2012. She has co-taught undergraduate studios and courses in Theory and Representation at Berkeley and Stanford in addition to SJSU.
