Department of Design 2013 Commencement
SJSU Music building, 4-7pm

The Design Department Graduation Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 24, 2013 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Music Concert Hall. Please mark your calendars! Students who graduate in Summer 2012, Fall 2012, Winter 2012 and Spring 2013 are invited to participate. You must RSVP in ART 120 by May 15th.  This will give us ample time to include your name in the program.

Business casual attire is encouraged for both students and guests. The graduates should wear full regalia (cap, gown, hood and tassel). You may purchase the regalia at the campus bookstore.  Please contact Sarah Solis directly at 408-924-1828 if you have questions pertaining to the purchase of regalia.

Here are important reminders:

  • Please arrive at 4:00 PM on Friday, May 24th in front of the Music Concert Hall building.

  • Line up at your designated Program area (Design Studies, Graphic Design, Industrial Design or Interior Design). The march will start at exactly 4:30 PM.

  • Graduates will sit on the stage. Please be on time.

  • Bring a 3”x 5” card with your name and major. Make sure it is legible, as this will be used to call your name individually.

  • As your major is announced, please stand up and then one by one, give the name card to the faculty member on the stage (Joe Miller) who will be calling your name. Walk across the stage, shake hands with faculty members and go back to your seat. Remain standing until you are told to sit down.

  • No balloons, air horns, or fireworks will be admitted into the graduation auditorium.

  • Guests per graduate are limited to three (3).

The ceremony will last for about an hour and fifteen minutes. Light refreshments will follow right after and will end approximately 7:00 PM.

Thank you for your cooperation.
