Rooted in San José State's committment to diversity, the idea for the Diversity Master Plan began in 2006 as part of the President's Reading Group on Diversity.
From July 2006 to August 2009, Rona T. Halualani, professor of intercultural communication, as director of institutional planning and inclusive excellence, was charged with the development, design and implementation of an Inclusive Excellence/Diversity (IE/Diversity) Master Plan for the campus.
