Academic Advisement
The DRC has one full-time Academic Advisor offering General Education and academic advising to registered DRC students.
Center for Accessible Technology
The Center for Accessible Technology (CAT) staff provide assistive technology training and alternative media to students and employees with disabilities. Students referred for training learn to utilize adaptive technology and subsequently mainstream to computer labs throughout the campus where the same adaptations are provided, insuring equal access. After meeting with a DRC Coordinator to determine eligibility for services, alternative media may be approved for students with a verified print disability. Possible alternative media formats include Braille, e-text (electronic text), Mp3, and large print. Alternative format produced for curriculum requirements only and are determined by individual student need and the ability to provide the curriculum material in the desired format.
ADA Compliance
The DRC engages in ADA compliance by building partnerships and collaborations with various campus entities to facilitate access for the disability community at SJSU. Our goal is to continuously improve the accessibility of our campus, and more specifically, to create an environment where access to programs and facilities appears seamless.
Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services
In conjunction with the Disability Resource Center's mission to provide high-quality retention services to students with disabilities, the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (DHOH) Services program provides professional Educational Sign-Language Interpreting and Educational Real-Time Captioning services. Note-taking services and an Assistive Listening Device (ALD) Loaner Program are also available.
Employment Accommodations Resource CenterThe Employment Accommodations Resource Center (EARC) is San José State University’s administrative program charged with collecting confidential medical and professional verification of a qualified employee’s disability to determine reasonable and appropriate employment accommodations. |

Learning Disability Services
The Disability Resource Center (DRC) strives to provide an array of academically related services for students with learning disabilities. Accommodations for curriculum requirements are determined on a case-by-case basis and provided specifically for coursework in which the learning disability impacts curriculum requirements.
