San Jose State University's EARC was established in 1992, and was formerly known as the Disabled Employee Assistance Program (DEAP). The program began serving approximately 150 employees with disabilities. In 2007, the DEAP changed its name to the EARC to continue to foster inclusive environment for employees with disabilities. Over the years, the EARC has served over 500 employees including faculty and staff at SJSU.
The mission of the Employment Accommodations Resource Center (EARC) is to determine and prescribe appropriate and reasonable employment accommodations for qualified employees with disabilities.
The EARC's vision is to build an inclusive workforce by promoting an awareness of appropriately accommodating employees with disabilities. The EARC will promote the recruitment, employability and retention of individuals with disabilities by taking a leadership role in promoting a knowledge base to the campus community through training, education and awareness.
