STEM Teacher Institute

The SJSU Lurie College of Education has established local partnerships to create summer opportunities for SJSU students and recent graduates to develop their knowledge, skills, and abilities to teach math and/or computer science in an effort to pursue educational equity and social justice by reducing STEM barriers in education - learn more about Department of Teacher Education alumni Robyn Riedstra's experience in the 2019 program above and read her feature in the SJSU Washington Square publication.

 

2019 Math Teacher Institute

Attendees will complete a math methods course, participate in hands on math content instruction, and may complete field experience through a math summer enrichment program. As a result, attendees will:

  • Improve their content knowledge and employability
  • Receive 3 credits at no cost and field experience
  • Earn a Lurie College Math Education Badge
  • Potentially earn a $2000 stipend

2019 Comp. Sci. Crash Course

Thanks to the generous support of Microsoft, attendees can complete a 4.5 day computer science crash course for only $95 (fee waiver available). As a result, attendees will:

  • Develop a foundation in computer science skills
  • Network with experienced middle school teachers
