The San José State University Connie L. Lurie College of Education Alumni Association believes that teachers can and do make a major difference in everyone's life. Those 'special teachers' who helped to learn how to read and write, praised efforts and helped build character, are often the unsung heroes of our community. The Alumni Association also believes that teachers should be recognized for their hard work, dedication, commitment, and ability to impact the lives of those around them.
The Honored Teacher Program was started in 1998. Honored Teachers are nominated by those whose lives they touch and a plaque in their honor is placed on display at the One Room Schoolhouse at History San José's Kelley Park. Teachers can also be honored through the naming of a schoolhouse desk. For more information and to honor a teacher, please call (408) 924-3600.
