Dear Connie L. Lurie College of Education Alumni,
Welcome to the Connie L. Lurie College of Education Alumni Board portion of this website. The Alumni Board has a proud tradition of liking current, future, and past teachers and education at San Jose State University.
As a Board, we have accomplished many things. We dedicated the Santa Ana One-Room Schoolhouse at History San Jose at Kelly Park to the City of San Jose. We dedicated the sculpture, "The Educators" in the patio garden at Sweeney Hall to the College of Education commemorating the 150th anniversary of the San Jose State University. Sweeney Hall is now recognized as the College of Education when the Board arranged for the signage naming it the Connie L. Lurie College of Education.
The Board sponsors several annual traditions including our Honored Teachers and Scholarship Reception held at the One-Room Schoolhouse at History San Jose at Kelly Park. Faculty grants are awarded to teachers at the College of Education to support their work with students or further their research.
Reconnecting with education friends and colleagues is an important outcome of the Board. Activities occur in the fall to meet fellow alumnis. The very popular "Classes without Quizzes" occurs around Homecoming Week and is hosted by the Board in conjunction with the San Jose State University Alumni Board. The "Hats off to Teachers" tailgate party and football game is a great way to spend a fun day with old friends.
