Credential Assessment
Advice and instructions for clearing a California preliminary credential based on out-of-state or out-of-country course work. This assessment is ONLY for multiple and single subject credentials. Holders of preliminary Special Education credentials should contact our Special education Department at 408-924-3700.
Please submit the following via FAX or mail:
- Copy of preliminary credential
- Your name, email address and day time telephone number
- List of other colleges (maximum 3) besides SJSU you would consider attending to meet these requirements
- Proof of $15 fee payment Click here to pay now
This assessment will take 2-3 days to process. We will email you the details on
how to clear your preliminary credential. Please keep our email response as we do
not keep records of these assessments. If you plan on applying for your clear
credential through SJSU you must complete a minimum of one course at SJSU.
You may take courses as a regularly matriculated student or through Open University. Regular matriculation requires admission to the Division of Graduate Studies AND to your respective department (Elementary Education or Secondary Education). Open University is a on a space-available basis and has no priority over our regularly enrolled students. For more information on Open University please go to www.ou.sjsu.edu.
