The SJSU Lurie College of Education has established local partnerships to create summer opportunities for SJSU students and recent graduates to develop their knowledge, skills, and abilities to teach math and/or computer science in an effort to pursue educational equity and social justice by reducing STEM barriers in education - learn more about each opportunity below! 


Math Teacher Institute | May 27 - July 19

Attendees will complete a math methods course, participate in hands on math content instruction, and may complete field experience through a math summer enrichment program.  As a result, attendees will:

  • Improve their content knowledge and employability
  • Receive 3 credits at no cost and field experience
  • Earn a Lurie College Math Education Badge
  • Potentially earn a $2000 stipend

Comp. Sci. Crash Course | June 17-21 or July 29 - Aug 2

Thanks to the generous support of Microsoft, attendees can complete a 4.5 computer science crash course for only $95 (fee waiver available).  As a result, attendees will:

  • Develop a foundation in computer science skills
  • Network with experienced middle school teachers
