B. Requirements Mandated by the State of California:
Subject Matter Competence: The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) requires that you demonstrate competence in subjects taught in K-8 classrooms. This competence must be demonstrated by passing the California Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET).
Instructional Technology:
It is required by the State of California that all credential candidates demonstrate knowledge and operational skills pertaining to the use of computers in the classroom. This can be satisfied by one of two methods:
- Pass the Technology Test. Information including a calendar for these once-a-month tests and a sample test are available on the Tech Test website.
- Take a course: EDIT 122 (at SJSU) or an equivalent.
