Checklist for Application
Please note that you need to apply to both the Department of Elementary Education (a paper application) and SJSU (an online application). Admission to one does not guarantee admission into the other. Deadline for Fall 2009 is Friday, May 15, 2009.

| Part II - Apply to the Department |
- Complete the Departmental Application and check Literacy Across the Curriculum for an Equitable Society.
- Transcripts. Submit transcripts of all colleges attended. Unofficial Copies are okay for department file.
- Teaching Credential. Make a copy of your current teaching credential and submit it with your departmental application
- 3 Letters of Reference. Please ask references to submit letters on official letterhead. Letters should address your strengths and experience teaching diverse students, including English language learners.
- Essay. Write an essay describing your educational and professional background, your philosophy of education, your experience with and thoughts about diversity, and your professional goals.
