THE COLORED MUSEUM OFFERS A UNIQUE LOOK AT AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURE
San Jose, CA- San Jose State University's Television, Radio, Film and Theatre Department is celebrating African American culture with the première of its latest production, "The Colored Museum," directed by Ethel Walker.

The play will debut on October 9, 2009 at 7 p.m. at the San Jose State University Theatre at 5th and San Fernando. This production, written by George C. Wolfe, couldn't come at a more perfect time with the recent inauguration of the country's first African American president.
According to Director of Productions, Barnaby Dallas, "Barak Obama's election was a major reason for selecting "The Colored Museum."   The comedy and irony becomes completely contemporary and topical and the characters interaction with the audience would definitely illicit a response from Congressman Joe Wilson."

Through a series of eleven short vignettes, "The Colored Museum" introduces theatre watchers to a unique perspective on African American culture and what it was like to be black during the 1980s.

“The Colored Museum" will run October 9 and 10, with more shows to follow October 14 through 17 at 7 p.m. Cost is $10 for students/seniors and $15 for the general public. Purchase tickets beforehand at the SJSU Event Center or Ticketmaster.com.
