Important Dates for MFA Students

Fall 2015 Semester

Sept. 11: Deadline for 2015 graduates to submit MFA or MA Thesis to Thesis Director.

Sept. 11: Deadline for December 2015 graduates to file or reactivate application for graduation with GAPE.

Sept. 25: MFA Comprehensive Exam distributed (9 a.m.).

Sept. 28: MFA Comprehensive Exam due (5 p.m.).

Sept. 30: Deadline for December graduates to submit MFA and MA theses to second and third readers.

Oct. 1: Deadline for May 2015 graduates to file Departmental Request for Candidacy form.

Oct. 26: Deadline to submit thesis proposals for Spring 2016 299 credits to Grad Committee.

Nov. 6: Deadline for December 2015 graduates to submit thesis for review by GS&R.

Jan. 16, 2016: Thesis publication or request publishing embargo deadline.

Spring 2016 Semester

Feb. 5:  Deadline for August 2016 graduates to file their “Department Request for Candidacy” forms (requires MA or MFA Advisor’s signature).

Feb. 12:  Deadline for May 2015 graduates to submit application for award of Master’s Degree to the Graduate Studies Office.

Feb. 19:  MFA Comprehensive Exam Distributed (9:00 A.M.)

Feb. 19:  Deadline for MFA theses to be submitted to thesis directors.

Feb. 22:  MFA Comprehensive Exam Due (5:00 P.M).

Mar. 18:  TA and GA applications and thesis proposals for Fall 2015 299 credit due. 

April 1:  Applications for 2015-2016 TA and GAships due to the Graduate Coordinator. GA & TA interviews are planned for the first two weeks of April.

April 1:  Deadline for thesis proposals to be submitted to the graduate committee to sign up for Fall 2015 299 units.

April 1:  Candidacy form deadline for students planning a Dec. 2015 graduation.

April 8:  Deadline for May 2015 graduates to submit signed theses to the Graduate Studies Office.

April 21: LEGACY OF POETRY DAY (date and times tentative).

May 11: Last day for sign-ups for the Fall 2015 MFA Exam

June 1: Deadline for August 2015 graduates to submit approved theses to Graduate Studies.

June 3: Last date for August 2015 graduates to reactivate or file application for graduation.
