The Poets and Writers Coalition is an organization created to support the artistic community at San Jose State and the outlying Bay Area public.  We strive to support any artistic avenues. For more information, check us out on Facebook and Tumblr.

Mar. 8 - PWC Workshop: "Litter Poems" 
                 6 - 7:15 pm
                 Philz Coffee
                 Start collecting some trash to utilize the words and pictures from the litter to create
                    original works of art!

Mar. 12 - "Flash Fiction Open Mic Night with Special Guest Beth Bosworth"
                     7pm
                     Philz Coffee
                     Join us for an evening of short stories and flash fiction! Come and listen to Beth
                       Bosworth read from her new book of short stories, The Source of Life and Other
                       Stories, winner of the 2012 Drue Heinz Literature Prize. Then share an original story
                       (1-2pg max) and enter to win a prize!

Mar. 14 - "Al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here."
                     7pm
                     MLK Library, Room 225/229
                     Join us for an evening of poetry to mark the 6th anniversary of the al-Mutanabbi Street
                        bombing in Baghdad, Iraq and to celebrate the publication of the anthology. With Bay
                        Area poets Gloria Collins, Erica Goss, Esther Kamkar, Persis Karim, and many more!

Mar. 15 - "The College of Humanities and the Arts Showcase"
                     1-4pm
                     Barrett Ballroom (Student Union)
                     Come create poems and flash fiction for patrons on our good ol' typewriters!

April 4 - "Tremors: New Fiction by Iranian American Writers"

                   Join us for a celebration and FREE reading/book signing of Tremors with Persis Karim
                     and Anita Amirrezvani.

April 18 - (Morning into Afternoon) "Legacy of Poetry Day"
                     11am - 3pm
                     In front of the MLK Library
                     Come celebrate SJSU poets past and present, listen to epistolary poems and poetry!
                       Receive free poems and create awesome post card poems. Special guests will include
                       Nathalie Handal, Samuel Maio, Persis Karim, Santa Clara County Poet Laureate Sally
                      Ashton, Los Gatos Poet Laureate Erica Goss, and many more! Check back for more

April 18 - (Evening) "Like a Voice Cutting Itself -- "
