Q. How does a student check the status of their EOP application?
A. Call the SJSU Admissions office at (408) 283-7500, ask for the Admissions office and then ask for the Admissions Coordinator that handles appropriate letter group - OR - go to the Student Services Center Admissions Window "A" located at 9th Street and San Fernando (10th Street parking garage). The deadline to submit an EOP application for Fall 2009 is March 2, 2009 which may be subject to change. Apply EARLY!
Q. Can students not accepted into EOP gain eligibility after attending SJSU for one or more semesters?
A. No. The EOP determination is set at the time of admissions only.
Q. Do Extended Opportunity Program & Services (EOP&S) students transferring from a community college automatically become EOP students at SJSU?
A. EOP&S students have an advantage over other applicants because they are familiar with an academic support program, but that does not guarantee admission. EOP&S students are asked to declare their affiliation with EOP&S on Form 1, but must complete the same application process as all other students.
Q. Are EOP grants from financial aid automatically given to EOP students?
A. The grant is awarded by the Financial Aid Office based on the availability of funds, as well as the student's financial need and class level. It is highly recommended that students apply early because awards are based on a first come, first served basis. Not all EOP students receive the EOP grant.
Q. What if a student is applying to EOP and does not meet the requirements to be admitted into the university?
A. EOP is allowed to admit a very limited number of applicants each year that do not meet all of the requirements for admission. Applicants that are considered for "special admission" must demonstrate the ability to succeed and obtain a baccalaureate degree as well as complete the EOP forms at www.csumentor.edu on or before March 2,2009.
Q. Does San José State University offer an EOP Bridge Program for special admits?
A. San José State University offers an EOP Bridge Program, a two week program for EOP first time freshmen who are special admits. (By invitation only). EOP also offers a one day EOP Transfer Bridge Program for transfer students.
