What is Summer Bridge?
Summer Bridge is a residential five-week academically intensive program where 60 students get the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to succeed at SJSU. During the program, students take English, math, and college readiness classes. They also participate in activities that will help them learn the campus culture, identify all resources available to them, and build community with other first-generation college students. Summer Bridge comes at no cost to all participants.
Who Can Participate?
Eligible students will be contacted directly by our office with information about the program, whether or not it's mandatory for them to participate, and any steps they have to take before attending Summer Bridge.
If you'd like more information on the program, please contact Jesus Jimenez, Transition Support Programs Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org
I've been selected for Summer Bridge. Now what?
If you've been selected to participate in Summer Bridge, you must complete the program in order to retain your status as an EOP student. Make sure to follow all the necessary steps to avoid any impact to your status with EOP.
1. Sign up for and attend First Contact
2. Fill out and submit all required forms
You should have received an email asking you to fill out some forms and return them to us. Make sure to return the forms by the assigned deadline.
3. Check your email and MySJSU messages frequently
If you can not attend...
If you have been identified as a Summer Bridge participant, your attendance is mandatory
and your continued acceptance to EOP and SJSU may be dependent on completing Summer
Bridge. If you have extenuating circumstances, you may file an appeal for review.
