The Educational Opportunity Program is designed to improve access and retention of historically low-income and educationally disadvantaged students. EOP students have the potential and demonstrated motivation to perform satisfactorily at a CSU, but they have not been able to realize their fullest potential because of their economic or educational background.

| | - All EOP Applications and Recommendation Letters are due by February 1, 2012 in order to be considered for acceptance into the EOP program for the Fall 2012 term.

| | - February 1, 2012 will be a firm deadline.

| | - Apply for EOP online through CSUMentor.

| | - Be sure to follow up with the persons you listed as a recommender to ensure that they have completed your forms online.

| | - Applying for FAFSA is one of the requirements when applying to EOP in order to be considered for EOP.
|
| | - The FAFSA filing period opens on January 1, 2012 and closes on March 2, 2012 for all students applying for Financial Aid.

| | - In order to be given priority EOP processing, please submit your FAFSA by no later than February 1, 2012.

- The EOP Applicant Information Form and Recommendation Forms are required from all students applying for EOP, first time freshmen, transfer students and returning SJSU students.
- For the most quickest processing, please submit your EOP application and recommendation forms online.
- Acceptance into SJSU does not necessarily guarantee entry into EOP.
- Continue to check MySJSU for application status, request for documents and important messages!
- Submit the documents requested from Financial Aid ASAP, as a delay in your verification with Financial Aid can affect your acceptance into EOP.
EOP Eligibility:
- You are a California resident applying as an undergraduate student for the first time.
- You are a high school graduate or the equivalent or a transfer student.
- You meet regular admission requirements or do not meet regular admission requirements, but have sufficient English and mathematics skills to succeed in college level courses.
- You have the potential and motivation to succeed at San José State University .
- You demonstrate a need for academic assistance /support services to succeed at SJSU.
- You have a history of low income and must meet the income guidelines.
- You are the first person in your family to go to college.
*Graduate students and non-resident students are not eligible for EOP.
