AB540 Resource Guide
Information for AB540 students regarding campus and community resources, scholarships and more.

In order to be considered for EOP, prospective students must apply to EOP when they apply to San José State University. State residency is a requirement to receive funding from EOP, but assistance may be available on a limited basis to AB540 students. For more information, please contact:

Academic Advising and Retention Services and the Advising Hub
Provides academic advising and student development assistance for General Education for all undergraduates.  Also advise undeclared Students, students requiring remediation, students on academic probation, and disqualified students seeking reinstatement as an undeclared major.

Admission Services
Communicates to students necessary documents required to  complete the admission process for undergraduate students.

ASPIRE
ASPIRE  strives to increase retention and graduation rates of  low income, first generation or those with a registered disability.

Associated Students (AS)
AS works to improve the educational opportunities and experiences of SJSU students.  Offer services such as child care, printing, campus recreation and computer labs.

Biology Department
Tutoring is offered to students.

Bursar’s Office
Responsible  for the billing and collection of tuition, fees, campus housing and other university related charges.

Business Student Advisement Center (BSAC)
The BSAC offers major advising, study space and tutoring for students majoring in business.

Career Center
The Career Center promotes the development of SJSU students as professionals by providing the tools to guide them both in making career-planning decisions and marketing their skills to employers.

Cesar E. Chavez Community Action Center
Center for community learning and leadership.

College of Science Advising Center
Provides academic and career advising to College of Science majors.

College of Engineering Student Success Center
Provides academic and career advising to College of Engineering majors.

Counseling Services
Professionally trained psychologists, social  workers and counselors provide psychological and educational counseling to assist you in becoming successful graduates of SJSU.

Cultural Heritage Center
The San José State University Library Cultural Heritage Center is made up of three distinct but complementary collections which share a service commitment and a designated space in the new Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. The collections, which support established academic programs at SJSU, include the Africana, Asian American and Chicano collections.

Disability Resource Center (DRC)
The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is a comprehensive center providing students with accommodations and services; promotes access for students with disabilities in the classroom and with testing.

Graduate Admission
From the point of applying to graduate school at SJSU through graduation, Graduate Admissions assists students at key steps during the process.  In addition, the office acts as a gateway to graduate-level research.

Guardian Scholars (formerly known as CME Society) Provides support/advocacy for emancipated foster youth in transitioning  from high school to SJS

Financial Aid & Scholarship Office (FASO)
Provides educational financial services to students, connects students with scholarships opportunities and other off campus resources.

LGBT Resource Center
LGBT supports students of SJSU through dynamic programming and outreach/advocates for the respect and safety of all members of the campus community.

Learning Assistance Resource Center
Individual, small group, and drop-in tutoring in courses like business, engineering, English, math, or science.

Martin Luther  King Library (MLK)
Offers students borrowing services, computers, reserves, disability services, distance learning, meeting rooms and other reference help.

McNair Scholars Program
Offers preparation for doctoral study for low income, first generation college students as well as minorities who are under-represented in graduate education.

MOSAIC Cross-Cultural Center
Provides resources and services for students or groups involved in multicultural inclusiveness activities.

Office of the Registrar
Provides students with  the most current information on procedures relating to your records and enrollment. 

Office of Student Conduct and Ethical Development
Guided by the Executive Order 970, the office enforces the SJSU Student Conduct Code.   Focus on pairing student development with appropriate disciplinary sanctions to help students facilitate their emotional and educational growth.

Ombudsman
An impartial party appointed to receive complaints, provide information, facilitate communication and offer conflict resolution between students and members of the SJSU community (faculty, staff and administrators).

Student Health Center
Provides information and support for health questions.  Low cost health care available to all enrolled students.

Student Involvement
Coordinates a wide variety of programs/services that promote student involvement in campus life and provides opportunities for student leadership and development.

Testing
Provides testing related services: Writing Skills Test, Entry Level Mathematics Test, English Placement Test and Challenge Exams.

Women’s Resource Center
The center supports women and feminist students at SJSU through dynamic programming/outreach and advocates for the respect and safety of all members of the campus community.

Writing Success Center
Resources to help students become better writers through writing workshops and one-on-one tutoring sessions.
