About Facilities OperationsTo enhance education, campus buildings and grounds must be attractive, clean, safe, and energy efficient. Our goal is to be fast, dependable, and optimistic in our delivery of service to the campus community. Through the efforts of approximately 200 dedicated employees the department maintains 156 acres of landscaped grounds and approximately 3 million square feet of building classrooms, laboratories, and office space in a downtown metropolitan location. Included in this maintenance effort are 52 buildings at four locations, 180 species of trees, protected animal and plant life, four fountains, and three pedestrian walkways connecting the university to the city. The Maintenance and Construction department services and maintains campus facilities with a skilled workforce of electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, locksmiths, and metal workers and is responsible for minor construction and remodel projects. The Utility and Energy department operates and maintains the University's major utility systems such as electrical, steam and chilled water distribution, electrical cogeneration plant, thermal storage and lighting systems. The Operations department provides custodial, grounds, recycling, and moving services for the students, staff, faculty members of the University. |
