ENGL 145

Professor A. Eastwood

Final Projects

This is your chance to be creative!  As a final project for Shakespeare 145, I would like you to respond to one of Shakespeare’s plays or to an important scene in one of the plays.  You might decide to “produce” a version of an important scene for yourselves, and then provide a written rationale of your production.  Consider your creative options as wide open.  Since many of you are currently teaching, or are going on to teach, you might wish to produce a lesson plan for a “unit” on one of the plays.

Rationale: A written rationale (of 1-2 typed pages, approximately 750 words) must accompany each response to Shakespeare.  Here you will need to explain in detail how your response links to Shakespeare’s text, and how you arrived at your response.  In particular, you should outline the details or issues in Shakespeare’s plays that you are responding to, and explain the thought process behind your reaction.  Carefully analyze the way in which your work addresses some of the broader questions about the study of a particular play, or about the puzzles of Shakespeare scholarship in general as we have discussed them during the course of the semester.
