Week 11 (11/8/05 - 11/15/05)
Science
is simply common sense at its best, that is, rigidly accurate in
observation, and merciless to fallacy in logic.
-- Thomas Huxley
- Research - Everyone needs to show weekly progress in their
research project: ResearchProgress.htm
- Abstracts should expand and gain detail over time.
- Some students still need general information -- try using the Merck
Home Manual or searching CDC website or contacting Harry
- If you make progress over the next 5 to 6 weeks, you will have a fine
little research project.
- Are you familiar with proof-reader's
marks?
- APA referencing
- Use your printed copy of the OWL
guide. No guessing or
faking citation and reference style. We need to make progress. Let's
discuss.
- Internet sources -- see OWL guide p. 7 (more or less); discuss.
- If no date is available, list date as (n.d.) for no date.
- If the author is unknown, list no author and cite title.
- Q & A
- Student research updates
- HW
- Next research update due Tu 11/15 -- use similar
format but you only need to show new material. Goal is to show progress.
Same grading criteria.
