TIPS FOR SUCCESS

  1. Come to class, and be on time!

  2. Review your greensheet often, and know when things are due.

  3. Regularly check the web site for updates.

  4. Always keep up with your reading - don't get behind!

  5. Always be aware of what materials (i.e., books, downloadable handouts, etc.) you need to bring to class.

  6. Be prepared for class.  No, this does not mean just occupying a seat.  It means being prepared to discuss the reading and lecture material, and being ready to take careful notes.

  7. It is extremely helpful to download the appropriate chapter outline before you start reading the corresponding chapter in the textbook, and fill in extra information as you read.  It will cut down on how much note taking you will have to do in class, and will help you to be prepared to answer questions in class.

  8. On exam days bring a half-sheet scantron with you (available at the Spartan Bookstore) and either a traditional No. 2 pencil, or a mechanical pencil with HB lead (equivalent to No. 2).

  9. All students should always have paper handy - you never know when you are going to have a pop quiz!

  10. Although it is not mandatory, it is recommended that you bring your textbook with you to class.

  11. Having your textbook with you in class will help you participate in discussions.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, AS A MEASURE OF COURTESY, PLEASE TURN OFF/SILENCE CELL PHONES AND PAGERS, AND TURN OFF/SILENCE THE SOUND ON all other electronic devices
