Werewolf

Beast-like in both appearance and nature, the werewolf symbolizes the brutality that the darkside can have. Dracula's control over the wolves shows how much power he has, as well as how entrenched he is in the dark side.

"How he came there, I know not, but I heard his voice raised in a tone of imperious command, and looking towards the sound, saw him stand in the roadway. As he swept his long arms, as though brushing aside some impalpable obstacle, the wolves fell back and back further still." (Stoker, 20)

"Hitherto I had noticed the backs of his hands as they lay on his knees in the firelight, and they had seemed rather white and fine; but seeing them now close to me, I could not but notice that they were rather coars-broad, with squat fingers. Strange to say, there were hairs in the center of the palm." (Stoker, 24)
