Inaugural Draft Complete – Teams Ready for Competition
SAN JOSE, CA -- In an exciting day in San Jose, CA at the Spartan
Premier League Office (SPL), the Inaugural Player Draft for the 2009 season was
held in front of a standing-room crowd (actually true this time, someone was
standing). The two franchises, the Riots
and the Dropkixx each selected their opening day rosters in a heated draft.
The
Riots team selected first in the draft followed by the Dropkixx.
“I
was pissed that I didn’t get the first selection in the draft, but I stand
behind our team,” Sarah “Kettlebells” Wisotsky, team captain for the Dropkixx,
said.
Nina
“Go Panthers… (Oops I mean Spartans)!!!” Butera also commented on her Riots
Team, “I just selected the best players available at the time. I’ll make a team out of them.”
Associate
Commissioner Craig “The Hammer” Winans was also quick to comment following the
draft. “I think both teams will battle
well. It had better be clean though, or
else I’ll lay the hammer down on them.”
“I
think both teams will have a great shot at winning the championship,”
Commissioner Jeff Leightman said. “It
just goes to show you the incredible depth of talent in this year’s draft. We have never had as many quality players
declare themselves eligible for a draft year in the history of the league.”
