Dropkixx win again in high scoring affair

SAN JOSE, CA – Emmy “Buzz Lightyear” Belding had a huge day,
scoring five goals and two assists, but the Dropkixx still were able to pull out
a 14-10 win behind a balanced but effective attack, giving them their second
straight victory Monday at Spartan Field.
The
Riots took a very early 1-0 lead just six seconds into the game when Belding
stole the kickoff and scored her first of the day. The Riots led 3-2 in the contest as Belding
completed her hat-trick in the first seven minutes. Riots goalkeeper Nina “Bullseye” Butera
notched her first point of her career on an assist on Belding’s second goal off
a goalkick. Lauren “Ursula” Sanchez got
the helper on Belding’s third goal.
Katie “Dash” Knopp opened the scoring for the Dropkixx and Jessica
“Tigger” Ingram added the Kixx’s second goal from Lauren “Little Bo Peep”
Ng-Pinkerton.
With
the Dropkixx trailing by a goal, they reeled off six of the next seven goals to
take a commanding 8-4 lead. Shanelle
“Sleeping Beauty” Furner added two goals during this run on assists from Ingram
and Roxy “Nemo” Kamal. Kamal added a
goal of her own along with Katie “Lightning McQueen” Bonadies, Hallsie “Dot”
Pacheco and Ng-Pinkerton also found the net as well as assisting on Bonadies’
goal.
In
what had the makings of another Dropkixx blowout, the Riots had other ideas.
“Hellz No!!!” shouted Riots captain Butera. “We ain’t goin down that hood again, gangsta!”
In
response to Butera’s motivational speech, the Riots stormed back and scored the
final three goals of the half to cut the margin to 8-7. Belding scored her fifth goal of the match
which would have made the score Dropkixx 8, Belding 5. Belding also assisted Kim “Little Mermaid”
Johnston on the next Riots goal and Jessica “Tigger” Ingram scored the final
goal of the half for the Riots. (Yes, I
said JESSICA INGRAM!!!! YOU CAN READ
DAMMIT!!!) Ok, so here is what happened…
try and follow… SO, in an unprecedented move, after a brief altercation (no
fists were thrown, so we think) Ingram was sent packing after a disagreement
with team owner Sarah “Tinkerbell” Wisotsky.
With the development, Ingram became the first player in league history
to score for two different teams in the same game (not counting own goals).
Wisotsky was asked to
explain the peculiar turn of events.
“Look, its over,” an
agitated Wisotsky added. “It clearly was
a decision that was imperative to the success of my team. Did it have anything to do with injuries on
the Riots? Sure, I can’t deny that those
problems crept in my mind, but I really just don’t like Jess. It is as simple as that.”
In response to Wisotsky’s
comments Ingram added her own ideas. “I
don’t like that team anyway. Sarah,
Sarah who? I can’t even spell her last
name!”
Ok, now let’s get back to
our broadcast day!!
After the controversy, the
Dropkixx opened the second half with three quick goals to extend the lead
again. Ng-Pinkerton had a hand in all three,
assisting as Bonadies scored her second of the day, adding her own goal less
than a minute later and then notching her fourth helper of the match feeding
Kamal.
Sanchez and Kelsy “Thumper”
Holm got the Riots close, but Pacheco and Kamal slammed the door shut on a
comeback with under five minutes to go in the match. Ingram scored her second for the Riots (third
of the day, can someone say “Weird Hat-trick?”) and Bonadies finished off her
more traditional hat trick as well to finish the game and solidify the Dropkixx
win.
