Team Names and Logos Announced
SAN JOSE, CA -- After
months of speculation and anticipation, marketing, polling and research
development, the new soccer league SPL, Spartan Premier League released the
names and logos of its two new franchises today to the media.
In an afternoon press-conference
(in which no one again showed up), SPL Commissioner Jeff “The big mean guy”
Leightman unveiled the new trademarks to the roaring (non-existent) crowd. The two franchises will be named “The Riots”
and the “Dropkixx.”
Team captain Sarah “Lean, Mean,
Fighting Machine” Wisotsky was delighted in her team’s new name. “The Dropkixx is a name I can feel proud of
wearing it on the front of my shirt,” Wisotsky said. “I feel the Dropkixx represent all that is
great in America today.”
Nina “My High School is better
than your High School” Butera, team captain of The Riots team also was
pleased. “We’re rough, we’re tough, and
we are going to dropkick those little Kixx right off the field,” Butera
screamed.
“The league is just happy to see
all the excitement and interest today,” Leightman commented. “Anytime you can see kids all across America
wearing SPL gear is a wonderful day.”
Along with the franchise names,
the each team’s logos and colors were also unmasked. Shown below, The Riots primary colors are
orange and blue. “Don’t let that orange
fool you. We are tough as nails,” Butera
quipped.
The Dropkixx franchise will have
a different look with primary colors of forest green, black and silver. “Don’t be jealous because genius’ pick
green. We are going to be like the
police and tear gas those riots,” Wisotsky attested.
The league used JCL Design, Inc.
(a fictitious company) to design the logos and team trademarks. Leightman has been pleased with the work of
JCL Design.
“JCL Design has done fabulous
work for us,” Leightman said. “We could
not be more pleased with the design, artistry and professionalism of the new
franchises. That is what this league is
all about.”
Following today’s festivities,
the inaugural SPL player draft will take place Friday, February 13th
(OOOOOHHHHH, Friday the 13th… Scary!!!). In addition to the unveilings today, the
league will hold a player combine for each of the captains and franchises to
evaluate talent and continue to develop strategies for the draft. The inaugural match begins Monday, late in
February in front of an expected capacity crowd (not true).
