Team Names and Logos Announced
SAN JOSE, CA -- After months of speculation and anticipation, marketing, polling and research development, the new soccer league SPL, Spartan Premier League released the names and logos of its two new franchises today to the media.
In an afternoon press-conference (in which no one again showed up), SPL Commissioner Jeff “The big mean guy” Leightman unveiled the new trademarks to the roaring (non-existent) crowd. The two franchises will be named “The Riots” and the “Dropkixx.” [more]

New Women's Professional League Formed
SAN JOSE, CA -- After two plus years of waiting for elite women’s soccer to come back to the United States, the wait is over and a new hope has emerged (no… we are not talking about the WPS). On January 13, 2009, Commissioner Jeff Leightman officially announced a new women’s soccer league to the media.
