This paper serves as your final exam. You will need to spend some time looking at the chosen work.
- Choose a museum from the list found on the INFORMATION page. Spend several hours looking at the various exhibits in the museum.
- Choose one painting in the museum. Note the Title, Artist, Year, Size, Medium, and any other information provided. Make thumbnail sketches as a visual aid.
- Write a one page (500 - 600 word) paper including the following:
a. Introduce the painting to the reader by describing the SUBJECT.
b. Choose THREE ELEMENTS and describe their physical qualities. (example: What kind of line? How does the artist use line? What does her/his line convey to you?)
c. Choose THREE PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIZATION and discuss these in relation to the composition.
d. Relate the above FORMAL issues to the painting's CONTENT. - Paper must be printed out on a single sheet of paper (if you need more space use the back). Here is an example of information required at the top of page:

CRITERIA: (counts as FINAL EXAM)
1.
Demonstrated understanding of 3 elements and 3 principles as they relate to the chosen work.
2. A strong, formal discussion using terms covered in course and readings.
3. All required information (see example above)
4. General quality of museum experience.
