1. MUNSELL SATURATION CHART:
- MATERIALS: Illustration board (leftover medium piece, 5x15" with 1" grid in pencil), paints etc.
- Each table will work with one color.
- First vertical column will be numbered (from top) 9, 7, 5, 3, 1 (the numbers refer to the value)
- Secont column will contain the gray values. (check with Victor or me before moving on to color)
- Working across, one value at a time, mix color with the gray mixture to increase saturation in EVEN steps. STOP when value starts to change! (each row across will contain only one value - the only thing that will change is the level of SATURATION)
CRITERIA:
Correct, even steps in saturation from #0 (neutral gray) to #full saturation (should be luminous, clean color)

2. Composition using CONTRAST OF SATURATION to create EMPHASIS.
- MATERIALS: Acrylic paint on watercolor paper (5x7" composition centered on watercolor paper)
- Here is an example of a painting by Richard Diebenkorn >
CRITERIA:
Variety of color, well placed emphasis (small area that draws viewer in)
Presentation, creativity and interesting composition
