San Jose State University's Theatre Arts Department is one of the few programs in the nation that offer students a chance to participate in production of a professional music video, commercial, or films.

"The class is based on the notion that television, drama, radio, and film students in the program would get a chance to work on a high-end film production before graduation," explains Babak Sarrafan, filmmaker and professor of the class. "They learn the process of pre-production and production first hand from professionals in the field while enhancing their own academic and professional resume."

Over 200 bands submitted music for the chance to receive a skilled music video for the initial project in fall of 1998. Only one was chosen based on popularity, artistic merit, and record company's professionalism. Being from the Bay Area plays a significant role in selection.
