University Helpdesk

Operated by IT Support Services (ITSS), a unit of the Department of Academic Technology, the helpdesk provides front line IT support to Faculty, Staff and Students of the university in a variety of areas. We are the first point of contact for information and support on campus.

Academic Technology, Department of

Working in partnership with the Academic Technology Network (ATN), the Center for Distributed Education, and the Center for Faculty Development, we offer media-enhanced instructional opportunities, televised courses, state-of-the-art streaming media capabilities, and a wide variety of technical and audio/video support services. We help the university provide a quality learning environment--on-campus, off-site, and in cyberspace--through appropriate learning tools and technologies.

Academic Technology Network

The Academic Technology Network(ATN) is the distance education group in the Media Production and Delivery Unit. ATN has three major technologies available for delivery of programming: broadcast classes, videoconferencing, streaming media.

Center for Faculty Development

The SJSU Center for Faculty Development (CFD) offers opportunities for professional development for all faculty. The Center's goal is to advance curriculum, pedagogy and technology to enhance instruction; encourage scholarly inquiry into college teaching and learning; and enhance faculty careers.

CSU Software Licensing Agreements

The CSU has established software licensing agreements for Adobe, Brio, Filemaker, Interactive Mathematics, Macromedia, Microsoft, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SPSS, and Symantec software.

Disability Resource Center

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) provides high quality retention services for students with disabilities and reasonable accommodations for faculty and staff with disabilities.

Distance Education

SJSU's eCampus utilizes WebCT and is responsible for the delivery of online classes and content.

Equipment Check-out

Media Services has equipment available for checkout and can meet many other audio and visual technology needs.

Media Production & Delivery

Services include program design and scripting; complete photography services; audio, video and multimedia production; classrooms designed for televised instruction; two-way videoconferencing throughout California and anywhere in the world; an extensive video library and campus video playback system; satellite programming reception, tape duplication; and instructional technology and media engineering consultation.

PeopleSoft CMS Project

The Common Management Systems (CMS) Project is a CSU system-wide initiative to deliver state-of-the-art services to students, faculty, and staff through better administrative software systems. The new software, PeopleSoft, is an integrated product that provides human resource, finance and student administration systems.

SJSUOne Account Management

An SJSUOne account is a University access account available to all current faculty, staff and students at the University. You can use your SJSUOne account to sign on to the campus Wireless network. In the future you will use this same account to sign on to additional applications and campus resources displaying the SJSUOne logo.

University Computing and Telecommunications Services

Responsible for the design and implementation of networks, e-mail services, and connectivity for the campus.

Web Services Unit

Functioning as the on-campus web design and development group and managed by the University Webmaster, the Web Services Unit is part of the Department of Academic Technology and exists as a resource and consultant-base for the entire campus.

Wireless Laptop Project

San José State University's Wireless Laptop Pilot Project is creating a dynamic and collaborative educational environment that enhances teaching and learning, creativity, scholarship and global connectivity through a wireless laptop initiative.
