Bio

Gail Sansbury is an urban historian with special interests in women's history, labor history, and architectural history. After receiving her M.A. in American History from the University of Rhode Island, she produced a number of public history projects, including a film about a major reservoir project in the 1920s, an oral history project on clerical workers, and a series of radio programs on women in the arts.

Building on her interest in urban history and cultural landscapes, she returned to school in the 1990s and received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Urban Planning from UCLA. She taught at Cal Poly Pomona before moving to San Francisco with her family.
