Important Announcements & Deadline Dates

Federal Government Shutdown Information

Due to the partial federal government shutdown, students may experience processing issues with the 2018-19 and 2019-20 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) that require certain database matches. Also, the “Get Tax Transcript” website is unavailable through the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and it is unknown when it will be back up.

The shutdown will not affect students with a complete financial aid file. The U.S. Department of Education is fully funded for the 2019 fiscal year.

Our office will continue to monitor the situation and will pass on any new information. Please contact our office if you have any questions: 408.283.7500 or

Awarding and To-Do List Items (refers to Fall 2018 - Spring 19 academic year)

  • Financial aid award is based on the submission and completion of To-Do List items posted in a student's MySJSU. Only students selected for verification will have items posted in their MySJSU.
  • Students NOT selected for verification will NOT have documents assigned in their To-Do List, but should monitor their MySJSU for any changes.
  • To be considered for maximum funding, all requested financial aid documents must have been completed by 4:30 pm on April 27, 2018.

The priority filing date for FAFSA, Dream Act and CSAC GPA verification deadline is always March 2. For example: March 2, 2019 for the Fall 2019 - Spring 2020 academic year.

Applications may be submitted after March 2, however, eligibility for maximum funding will have been missed.

Remember, FAFSA/Dream Act application process begins every year on: October 1

Due to limited funding availability, you must submit your FAFSA/Dream Act application in early October (as soon as the application is available) to be considered for priority funding.
