What happens after submitting an application
Students will receive:
- a Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA or from CSAC (California Student Aid Commission),
- an Acknowledgement Letter (DRL) from the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office acknowledging that SJSU has received your FAFSA or Dream Act Application. The letter also provides important instructions and deadline dates.
Students selected for verification will have items placed in their MySJSU To-Do List.
For students selected for verification, there is a priority deadline! Submit documents by the deadline date to be considered for maximum funding. Deadline date is provided in the Acknowledgement letter.
Tuition Fee Deferral
If you were selected for verification, you must complete all requested financial aid documents by the following submission deadline dates in order to qualify for a tuition fee deferral and prevent enrollment cancellation. Students not meeting the deadline MUST pay their registration fees from their own resources by the payment deadline.
Fall 2019 - Friday, June 28, 2019
Spring 2020 - Friday, December 6, 2019
Financial aid applications received after the above due dates will NOT receive a tuition fee deferral. Students not selected for verification will receive a tuition fee deferral if the financial aid application is completed prior to the above due dates.
Typically, the approximate timeframe to receive an Acknowledgement Letter is one to two weeks after submitting a FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application. Contact the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office if an Acknowledgement Letter is not received: 408-283-7500 or email@example.com.
